CD10 #130

Post by pat tully »

I found a CD10 in a Ft. Pierce, Fla boatyard. $400.00 w/trailer.
Didn't know what she was until I got the title. 1960 hull 130.
Replaced mohogany gunnels, seats/flotation, transom and mast step. Hull is ready to shoot and once I find a Mast, boom and sail, she'll be done. She'll be a great companion to my Endeavour 32 "Terrapin". Pat.
I'll post pic's when I figure out how.?

You're on the right track. Just remember, in order to use the [Img] tags, the URL of your link/photos must end with ".jpg", ".gif" or ".png". If it doesn't, use the [URL] tags or none at all.

Steamed the gunwales?

Post by Duncan »

Great work, the "stages" look better and better.
Did you have to steam the gunwales, or did they bend just by clamping carefully?

They were clamped during the summer months in Fla.

I guess that would be steamy enough, then!
Thanks, again, great job.

Thanks Bob, I can't wait to sail her. I'm still looking for a mast, boom and sail.

Hi, the rails on my DC10 are my next project. But I was worried that the force of bending the replacements would distort the shpae of the hull.

Did you do anything special to measure and assure that you were getting the correct contour?

My Thistle rails have two layers inside and 2 outside, so I contemplating using a two-piece outer and inner, rather than the single strip you show. That way I can make a jig with the proper contour and get the bend in befroe it goes on the hull.

How thick and stiff you recall the hull being? It looks like it worked our for you to have a single inner and outer, any words of advice and/or encouragement?

I think the hull is 1/8th inch. I bought the boat with no rail and there was some flex without it, but we slowly bent the rails over a few week period. Good luck!

Great looking boat! Did you use paint or gelcoat? Did you spray or roll/tip?
Thank you!
