After visiting the Hanalei (D. Stump's vessel) I saw that they were using a boom strap which makes a lot of sense to me for a multitude of reasons. Dave, if your listening, where did you find it and who manufactures them. Any other posters are welcome to 'fess up the information. I would be very greatful. Thanks in advance.

Re: Boom Straps- Defender has 'em.
Don,
Defender has the vang straps you are looking for. You might not have noticed, but I fix the mast end snap shackle of the vang to a "U" bolt placed just above the step in the sail track. Makes a real strong, neat installation.

Thanks Dave.
Dave;
Thanks, I'll call Defender today. I am mounting the lower vang shackle to my downhaul cleat which is installed in the sail-track very solidly.
I noticed you were out Saturday, great sailing we went out to the race and back. The winds were not as good as NOAA advertised but steady.
Fair Winds.
