David This is a link where I discussed my thought process on deciding on a rebuild, repair or new engine. Got an oil analysis and went to a diesel class at Hansoen Marine (a Westerbeke dealer) before making the call. Went with the new engine and I'm happy, but poorer.

I Like My Yanmar

Post by Parfait's Provider »

Parfait's new Yanmar makes me feel warm and cuddly. The Perkins never had a chance to get close, but I have suspucions about its history. Re-powering was hard, expensive, and very satisfying. However, if I had a leaking Perkins that was as reliable as the Yanmar, I'd keep it.
