Season Greetings & Salutations from a new Greenwich 24 o

Post by starboard »

Cheers to All,
after following this board for a while I'm impressed with the civil manor and eagerness to share priceless knowledge gained from real life experience.

I have been a racing sailor most of my 53 years. Recently, a pretty little Greenwich 24 on Long Island found me, it was love at first sight. (This is strange because i live in NC) Now I am spending a long winter planning summer trips to NY & day dreaming of sailing adventures around Long Island. I am thankful for what i have already learned from "yall" nice folks & look forward to contributing as well.
Kindest regards,
Danville

Thanks Bill... the old girl is on the hard in the Crows Nest Marina, Oceanside on the south shore. Lots of nice folks with a couple cool spots nearby. I hope to:
A. Circumnavigate the Tall French Lady in the harbor
B. Sail to Montock, then to Block
C. Next year maybe Newport & Maine

Is this too ambitous for the old girl??

Not a bit.

Watch for various CDSOA Northeast Fleet events as they're announced here... there will be lots of opportunities to meet up with the rest of us within your (broadly) designated cruising range.
Fair winds, Neil

inside or out

Montauk is a nice cruise from you ( and you'll avoid much auto traffic ! )

Are you thinking the inside route ( tho a bit thin here and there - my cousin and I used to go wading for clams ) to Shinnecock then between the forks or taking her outside - jumping back in between the islands to anchor up ?

Scenery is great with many places an easy walk/hike from the shore and either way will be cool  BTW - watch for mosquitoes ( they can be thick if no breeze is blowing )

Good Luck

Thats a good question... My thinking is since i'm on the south side, i'll take the outside then comeback thru the sound... i'm having alot of fun thinking about it & planning...
