Painted Mast

Post by Jeff Nelson »

Did Cape Dory factory paint masts or is this added by owners? Thanks

Anodized aluminum....

Post by Cathy Monaghan »

I believe most, if not all, of the original Spartan Spars found on our Cape Dorys were anodized aluminum, not painted. If the anodizing wore off, then a mast would be painted.

My typhoon has about 5 coats of paint so that raised the question I am in the process of removing the layers and was thinking of how I would finish it. Thanks

I had my mast, boom and Bomar hatch frame powder coated and was very pleased with the result.
Cheers....
