Happy Holidays to everybody!
I have a question about the quality of the Cape Dory Models by The Scale Model Co. The model is a toy (of course real boat is also a toy)
in order to enjoy it you want a reasanably good quality for $200.00 you need to spend.
Did anybody order the model from them? If yes, What is yor impression? Thank you and have a great sailing in 1998

Hi Alex,
I have the original half model for my 85 CD26. Cape Dory normally provided a free half model of the boat with every boat sold at that time. A picture of a typical half model was featured in each yearly brochure. Mine was built by The Scale Model Company for Cape Dory. Their name and address appear on the back of the mounting board. The quality is very good with quite a bit of detail such as the motor engine well. Half models have always been on the expensive side. A half model of my former Sea Sprite 23 was about $150 in 1981. They generally come with a brass name plate which I had engraved with the name and hull # of the boat. It already had the "Cape Dory 26" on the plate. These things are always in the eyes of the beholder. I have always enjoyed mine. I can take a picture of mine and sent it to you by E-mail if you can view a "jpg" photo. It may give you an idea of what the model may look like. Of course, you should check out with them if any changes might have been made.

Mark,
The Scale Model Company address, phone, fax, etc. is given under
"Where else to look" on the Cape Dory Home page. You will see under the Cape Dory Suppliers List. Since you are a former Sea Sprite owner, take a look at my web page link at the very bottom of this message.
Happy New Year,

Re: Cape Dory models by The Scale Model Co.
Let me assure you that the models produced by The Scale Model Company are of the highest quality. I have seen hundreds of them. Tom Harsh, the founder and sole employee for over twenty years, hand crafted each one with an attension to detail not seen often in modeling. He produces and upkeeps the models for the NY Yacht Club, US Naval Academy, and for the most discriminating yacht owners. He also has a model on display in the Smithsonian.Alex Bogomolets wrote: Happy Holidays to everybody!
