I'm looking for a way to get my CD28 from Brooklyn to Albany, where I'll be able to work on her at my workshop, rather than in a desolate yard in NYC. And I'll be able to talk to her almost every day, which will make both of us feel better.
Does anyone have a trailer for sale? Or that they could rent for a week?
Thanks a lot.

That's actually quite a nice sail - a (long) weekend if the tides are right. Beautiful scenery.Queen Elvis wrote:I'm looking for a way to get my CD28 from Brooklyn to Albany, where I'll be able to work on her at my workshop, rather than in a desolate yard in NYC. Having a 27, I'd rather sail...
But, as you wisely say, better not to stretch a long-distance relationship.
HOW-TO
Any decent two-three axle flatbed trailer will work if you have a cradle. One idea is to borrow a cradle, transport it on a flatbed, set the boat on jackstands when you get it to Albany, and return the cradle before normal haulout,
Or sail her up. and set her on stands when you get there, of course.
You're welcome to my cradle, but I'll need it back soon, and it's all the way up in Montreal. Somebody closer could make this easier for you.
So. I'd try to sail her first, or use a borrowed cradle and a rented/borrowed flatbed trailer as a second choice. A third (very expensive) choice would be to hire a pro sailboat transporter, but he will charge more beer than you can drink in a month.

NYC to Albany
Yes, I'm actually considering sailing to Castleton-on-Hudson, unstepping the mast there, hauling her, and just trucking the girl the 20 miles to my house.
And a large part of my reason for wanting to do this is indeed the scenery, especially at peak foliage time.
I did sail her down to NYC from Castleton two years ago. Actually, we drifted, but that's another story. (Engine blew; winds didn't. An interesting journey.)
So if anyone knows of a boat trucking guy up there, that would be appreciated, too.
