Stanchion replacement

Post by camroll »

My 1977 CD28 was hit on its mooring lately bending one of the gate stanchions and the gate brace. Does anyone have any idea where I can find a replacement for these. Thanks

Schaefer makes stanchions which will do the job but they are not an exact match to the o.e.m. goods and they are pretty pricey (around $60 each from Defender, etc.). If the originals are only bent and not "kinked" they can be straightened at just about any shop that does stainless steel fabrication.

that's right Schaefer marine. com
you have to order it on line its the fastest way to get,
marine stores will not have them in stock.

Hi Russ,
Try White Water Marine Inc; <www.whitewatermarineinc.com>, (810) 987-4837,
3755 W Water St, Port Huron, MI 48060. [SS rails]
They have a lot of OEM drawings and the current owners have a lot of experience in SS tubing Mfg.
BTW: They have the original drawings for the CD33 SS rails and they also knew the original OEM was 'Tops in Quality' (which may now be out of business.)
Good hunting :D

Slight bend

Post by bhartley »

Pyxis had two bent stanchions when purchased. The surveyor suggested having them straightened as they were not kinked. A plumber friend used his pipe bender to straighten them. Couldn't tell you which ones they were because they all look the same.

If you're concerned about them matching and the bend isn't too bad, I would try straightening. Worked for us.
