Typhoon Spreaders

Post by Waterdog2 »

Does anyone know of a source for (3/4X5/8X26") typhoon
spreaders other than Rig Rite?

I placed an order with Rig Rite on May 20 with a two weeks
ship date. After several phone calls and one fax (Aug. 2) which
was completely ignored Rig Rite is still unable to give me a
ship date.

Is this normal service when dealing with Rig Rite?

RigRite

I dont know what the issue is with your spreaders. We broke a mast. We called RigRite on Monday and they shipped on Friday.

I did find that their voice message system is not that great. Try to get a real body. They were pretty responsive with us.

You could try Dwyer mast in Branford Ct.

Typhoon Spreaders

Trapper,
I spoke with one person three or four times and a second
person once during the past thirteen weeks since placing
my order on May 20 and getting the same answer-don't
know when we will have them.

Yesterday I located two spreaders and cancelled my order
with Rig Rite and their only comment was- "sorry about that".

Glad you got your spreaders

Sorry you had such a time with RigRite. We had an accident here about 3 weeks ago where we broke (I should say "they""--I didn't have anything to do with it) the mast. After thinking about it for a week, the decision was to purchase a new one. I called them on Monday, the tube was shipped on Friday, arrived in SC on wed. and was on the boat by Sat. I don't think I would have been a patient as you were. Glad you got them anyway.

Working with Rig-Rite

Post by Captmarklp »

Five years ago, I needed a new Kenyon mast section that RR showed they had on-line. They were said to have bought the Kenyon company's tooling and blanks at Kenyon's closing-down.

I spoke with them about the section, and there was confirmation that the piece was available. After taking time and thinking more on the costs ... I decided to go-ahead. I made repeated calls and follow-up calls and had no response, no returned calls, never again had an answered phone, nothing ... zilch.

It was clear that they didn't want to talk to me about this. Would they respond to another kind of inquiry ? I don't think so b/c I commissioned an Annapolis spar builder next to build the mast and they said they had a similar response. The blank came from elsewhere.

But then, 2 winters ago, I needed Typhoon spreader tubes and outer fittings. I followed instructions precisely as they show on their site and to my UTTER DELIGHT AND SURPRISE, the parts arrived without a hitch and ahead of time.

Rig Right

Post by Lake Sailer »

Several years ago I ordered a number of parts from Rig Right including a new mast. The people I spoke with there were helpful, but the order took far longer then expected and lots of reminder phone calls. However, they came through with the replacement mast and parts and I have been pleased with the quality of the parts.
