Nantucket Race week -- is this your CD 27"
Was lucky enough to sail from Freeport Ny to Nantucket last week. Here are some shots, and an unidentified CD27...was this you?

Thanks Warren. The left turn was essentially it, 90 degrees east give or take a few most of the way. Its nice to stay about six miles off Long Island since you avoid the barge traffic and fishing boats that travel about three miles off, and the bigger ships that are further out.
Its kind of amazing all the treacherous waters around Nantucket, the huge shoals south of the island, and the Muskeget Cut with its whirlpools and such.
I didn't make the trip on my boat but on a friends 43' Hans Christian. Far more creature comforts for the 36 hours it took.

Where were the dolphins?
Ron,
Great pictures!
Did you see the dolphins off Nantucket or elsewhere?

The dolphins were midway between Block and Vineyard maybe ten miles south of a line between the two. There were about forty of them in the pod, little babies and full grown ones. It was quite thrilling. You really got a sense they were playing with the boat and each other. I was also surprised to see their colors. I thought they would be all grey.
Right before the dolphins appeared we also saw a few whales, but they were further away. Actually, we saw them spout a few times and then their heads surfaced a bit. Did not get a good look.

Always exciting
They look like one of the pods we saw when I was sailing to Bermuda aboard Isabelle. Those dolphins were also speckled and the pod contained young, adolescents and adults.
During the long run through the eerie calm of the Gulf Stream, the dolphin sitings were a welcome relief. They're always exciting and seem to be having fun.

Couldn't be. Wrong side of the country
Just to get a little more West Coast representation on the board...
Here are some pictures I took from a 10 day trip that finished up last week. There were so many good sunset pictures I put them in a separate sub directory.

I especially liked the 'ghostly' Mount Baker one.
