Sail Boston Event

Hi All,

Is there going to be a Cape Dory presence at the Sail Boston Tall Ships event in July? This is said to be the largest gathering of such vessels ever. I will be there with CD-25 Sovereign, most likely in the large anchorage just north of Hull's Bumkin Island. I believe Allia may be there for a day or two as well. Are any others planning to attend? There is a schedule and a promotional/propaganda video on the Sail Boston web site at the link below (the video is actually pretty nice).

I'll be there! We're at Marina Bay, in Boston Harbor, at the end of Dorchester Bay. Don't know what the specific plans are for watching the tall ships come and go, or what the Coast Guard will allow. Depending on their schedule, I might drop the hook in between Spectacle I and Long I.

With the CD fleet meeting outside of my cruising range right now, a meet in Boston might be fun. Slip space is usually available at Marina Bay. Thought a non-race around the harbor islands could be fun, followed by drinks, etc., at the marina. Tall ships week is probably not the best time, but later in the summer, perhaps?

In any case, let's see if we can get a list together of who's around for the tall ships, so we'll know who to watch for.

We're going to try and get a look when they pass by the west end of the Cape Cod Canal the weekend before the event. We're moored in Buzzard's bay, and they expect 1,000,000 people in Boston for the formal events.

There is a smaller tall ship muster of fifty boats or so in Newport RI, the last weekend in June. I suspect these boats will traverse the CC canal on their way to Boston. Click the link below for the Newport site's info.

Can you tell me more about this meet? Exactly where in the Bay will it take place. It happens that I will have the original owner of Sassafras (CD31 #55) on board that weekend.

The 11th seems to be the day to be there. I will head down on the 10th, and stay for two nights just north of Bumkin Island. I'll travel around on the 11th to get the best views. Toss me an e-mail if you want to sail down together.

We expect to be there. We'll sail up from the cape on the 9th. Will be mooring off Winthrop. If anyone would like to join us on the trip up, zap me an email. Will stop by any group of anchored CD'rs to say hello.
