Last Sunday we were moored in Manhasset bay yc waiting out the weather prediction of afternoon thunderstorms before transiting the East River on our journey home to NJ.
Very suddenly around 3 pm we were hit with winds and thunderstorms at speeds above 80 mph . Our cd 330 held us secure but it was one scary hour. GEMS broached four times proving how awesome these boats are. The launch drivers got all those caught on there boats off as soon as the storm passed . The waterfront dir Pete and his crew moved and removed us as soon as it was safe at full speed.
Thanks to Bruce and Cathy for guiding us down the sound last week as we skirted most of the bad weather . We would not have been safe without their help and advice and a great boat.

Hi Rod & Maggie,

PS: That weather we had on that Sunday was scattered (or isolated -- can't figure out the difference) but horrendous. That same storm spawned a tornado that hit The Bronx, and as you well know, a possible tornado on Manhassett Bay. See the links below.

By the way, earlier in the week there was a posting about a sailor that fell overboard and was lost on Long Island Sound. He indeed went missing during the storm that hit The Bronx.
