I am buying a bigger boat, so my 1981 Cape Dory 30, #169 is for sale. A basic boat, but extremely sound and with a recent re-power with just over 600 hrs and regular maintenance. You can modify as you like, there are not holes all over this boat from PO.
Features:
Re-powered with Yanmar 2GM20F, including new seacock, strainer, exhaust/hoses, engine mounts, shaft, 3-blade bronze prop, and Racor filter. Professional install by Masonboro Boat Yard. Cutless bearing replaced 2007. Speedseal included in spares, as are other Yanmar parts.
No blisters, no delamination on decks or in cockpit sole. Decks are beige non-skid, typical crazing but no soft spots anywhere on decks or in cockpit.
Hull is in great shape, minor scratches, due for polish/wax this fall.
Bottom painted Nov 08
Woodwork is fading cetol.
New helm seat
Bowsprit replaced 2008, new Spartan bronze anchor roller. Laminated with 319 stainless through-bolts. CQR 25 with 30’ 5/16 chain, 150’ 5/8 three strand.
Sails are hank on and in great shape. 2 reefs in main. Bronze piston hanks, lots of hand tooling at stress points, crisp sails. Yankee and staysail, drifter, serviceable spare sails included.
Running rigging replaced over past 3 years.
Standing rigging replaced by PO, norseman mechanicals above and below. All open bodied bronze turnbuckles.
Standard Horizon Depth and Speed
Autohelm 3000 works well except in big following seas
ICOM M402 VHF, 4 years old
Xantrex battery monitor (XBM)
2 group 27 batteries, 2009
Interior cabin in great shape, no water damage on teak paneling. Finished with Epifanes rubbed effect. No leaks from any portlights or hatches. No water intrusion, bilge is always dry.
All tanks in good condition, 60 gal water, 12 waste, 20 diesel. Diesel tank cleaned at engine install, all fuel added to my boat goes through filter funnel, all filters regularly maintained. Fuel is clean and reliable.
Origo 3000 2 burner non-pressurized gimbaled stove.
Doors and table are not installed but come with the boat.
Cushions replaced by PO, have phirtex bottoms for airflow. Nice sunbrella cockpit cushions, can sleep in cockpit.
I’m sure I have forgotten some details, please PM if interested. Boat currently lies near Oriental, NC.
Price is $22,000, will list with broker in 6 weeks. I hope that someone on this board will buy this boat, it will make such a great boat for someone, given the overall condition and significant investments made in professional re-power. We have simply outgrown it.
Thanks!
