For Christmas, my ladyfriend has offered to have my missing bronze hull # plate re-fabbed by a local engraver. Trouble is, I've never seen the real thing! If anybody has a JPEG image of theirs, I'd love to see it to use as a model.
Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all!

Contact me by e-mail for a JPEG image of the nameplate off my CD27, Hull #206. I don't know if there were differences in the nameplates between 27's and 30's or not. Mine is actually plated plastic (which I found suprising, considering the fine bronze fittings made by Spartan fitted throughout the boat), but I assume this is what you're looking for.

Re: CD30 Bronze Nameplate Photo
Geoff,
The wife of a friend of ours gave her husband a solid molded bronze Cape Dory nameplate with the serial number of their CD30 some years ago. I believe she got it from Cape Dory who either offered them themselves, or through Spartan Marine. I suspect it might be worth a call to Robin Hood Marine or Spartan Marine and ask there, that might be the most direct, fastest and perhaps even cheapest way of getting one.

Re: CD30 Bronze Nameplate Photo
The Nameplate for our CD30 is plastic with a bronze paint over it. This finish is sensitive to cleaners and teak oil..ours lost a lot of the original finish.
So this winter, I removed all of the old paint and then carefully applied goldleaf to the raised areas of the plate. Then I sprayed it with clear varnish to protect the surfaces. Looks like new!
I can gin up a jpeg of the plaque and send it to you if you still need one.
