1982 Cape Dory 28' Sloop "Sojourner" SOLD!!

Last time I looked, Pomponette/Bomar still sold the hatch for which that opening was sized (just a smaller version of the forward hatch), but they were heinously overpriced.

For what its worth, the Bomar hatches that CD used are so expensive because they are cast, rather then extruded aluminium, much more expensive to make and much higher quality then any other hatches on the market that I have seen. I talked to the rep at the last annapolis boat show and he said while they are still in the catalog, they are rarely sold, since modern builders rarely opt for quality, prefering the cheaper extruded varieties instead. Just another testiment to the quality of our Cape Dorys.

We have received and accepted an offer on Sojourner. We have been promised a deposit check on Monday. If for any reason the transaction isn't completed, I will update the posting that she is available again.
Thanks for all the interest and the kind words about Sojourner. We are sure her new owners will be very happy with her. I think she is headed for New York.

Sojourner has passed to another owner and will reside under the watchful eyes of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. The Cape Dory 28 design is beautiful, timeless, and as capable as they come. Sojourner, in particular, is a great boat, and has a future of cruising with her new owners.
They fell in love with her immediately and we have no doubt that they will be caring owners who will sail her and enjoy her. They tell us they are already frequently visitors to this board and will probably be members before long. We wish them the best of luck.

Congratulations on the sale of a beauty! It sounds like she's found a good home. So, what's on the horizon for your next restoration?

I hesitate to say on this board, but it will probably be an older center console, missing the engine, or one that doesn't work, that can be trailered. I haven't found anything in bad enough shape yet for the right price, but I'm sure I will eventually. I really should abide by our Henry David Thoreau quote to let this desire alone. It's hard to live on the Chesapeake and not be able to get out on the water.
