CD27 engine swap

CD27 engine swap
Since Yanmar is not supporting the horizontal one cylinder any longer with parts-Does anyone have experience with what may fit in that tight space? The one cylinder seems not enough power for that boat anyway. If someone has already swapped out for something larger-I would like info on what would need to chopped out of the bridgedeck, interior, etc. Thanks, John

Betamarine
Search board for Betamarine repowers with their two cylinder which fits nicely in the space without major modification. I put the same engine in my 25D.

As Dick said, use the search function for CD27 repower. Andy Denmark is just finishing a repower with a Betamarine. Nice project photos. Some have used the new(er) Yanmar 2YM-15(I think that's its "name") while some used the older 2GM20F engine.
Robin Meigel just finished a repower with a Westerbeke and as far as I know is very happy with it.

John: If you know, what is the specific model # of this engine I ask because I am wondering if it is the same model that Cape Dory put in CD 25Ds in 1981-1985.stuartc wrote:Since Yanmar is not supporting the horizontal one cylinder any longer with parts

John, if you scroll down the board to your
original post requesting info, you will see that I provided you with the link to the discussion thread cited above.
Westerbeke 12 C Two
Hi - Yes, Robin Meigel is very happy with my new Westerbeke 12C Two thus far. Pictures are posted of the installation elsewhere on this board. The mechanic wasn't sure he was going to be able to make it fit - not only did he manage with minor cuts here and there - he was able to use the original mount bolt holes and not rebuild the engine bed. The Westerbeke sits lower in the space than what I've seen of a Beta Marine installation in a CD 27 in the Annapolis area (Lily Pad).
About two weekends ago I was out in "wind advisory" conditions - gusts up to 40 knots. The Westerbeke gave me what I needed to motor sail off the wind and maintain control.
