Crap, they haven't learned how to build a motorcycle engine. Does this mean anchorages will be besieged with the thunder of harley outboards like so many peaceful country towns are by Harleys now days? I will stick with my Hondas.

This is the exact thing I thought when I read the post, but I bit my tounge. But since someone else said it, I will certainly concur. An outboard made by harley sounds like the last thing I would ever want.

That said, I am willing to bet its just a tohotsu engine rebranded to take advantage of the ridiculous amount of money people will spend on HD branded items.

I remember about five years ago that Briggs and Stratton tried to enter the market with an outboard engine.

It was a 5 HP, four stroke, single cylinder, air cooled motor. In small letters it said "For fresh water use only". I could never figure out if it was air cooled, why wasn't it usable in salt water?

In time, its popularity waned. Some dealers no longer carry the B&S outboard. (headaches)

It had its fifteen minutes of fame. Let's see how the Harley Davidson does.

My CD-25 came with a Honda, and it is too damn heavy, the cooling passages are too small because they are always clogging up, and the prop size choices are non existant.
I dumped it for a future Evenrude.

Wish I still had the old British Seagull. Now that was a simple, trouble free, powerful, and compact, outboard.

I always thought of the British Seagull as a perfect example of the type of thinking that led to the loss of the British Empire (not that I miss it all that much). In my travels I have encountered countless British Seagulls clamped on the stern rail by some really "authentic" yachtsmen. Can't say I recall ever seeing one actually running, but then again they probably get great gas mileage.

Of course to be fair it's easy these days to take a pot shot at anything with "British" in the title, especially if you like seafood. Or you used to.

And with the 10:1 Fuel to Oil mix they may have been responsible
for more oil in the water than BP. GPS not required just follow
your oil slick back home.

Actually I think they were great, every technology museum should
have at least one.
