Saw an ad for a "Intrepid 28 built by Cape Dory" How might this be different than a "regular" Cape Dory 28? I searched archives, but came up short...

Re: Intrepid 28
Hi Dan,
Search for Intrepid, NOT Intrepid 28. There are a few posts related to Intrepid, 9M, 30, 28, etc. I got involved with this topic, a year or so ago, because my boat is a CD28 with the name 'Intrepid'.

Re: Intrepid 28
I own a 1978 Intrepid 28. It is a different design from the traditional Cape Dory. The cockpit is all fiberglass, actual more comfortable than a true cape dory cockpit layout, and self draining without sea cocks to contend with. It has a fin keel rather than full keel. Total weight is 7500 lb. The beam is slighly wider than a 28 CD, this gives a very spacious interior with standing headroom throughout even to the v berth. The ports are not bronze but a good opening plastic port. I had a cracked lens which I replaced off the shelf at JSI. Not bad for an old boat repair. Everything is standard and parts have been easy to find. Power is the old ysb 8 Yanmar diesel. Minimal power but minimal mechanics as well.
It is not a fast sailer but is very solid and likes a stiff wind. Light wind performance is ok.
let me know if I can be of assistance with any other questions.
