Solar Vent Installation

Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

Solar Vent Installation

Post by barfwinkle »

Here are two pics of the solar vent install. I have the hole cut and am waiting on weather and weekends so I can fill the void where I removed the balsa.

Fair Winds

Here you can see the hole with a portion of the balsa removed and the void between the coach top and the cabin liner.

<a href="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z209 ... G_3426.jpg" target="_blank"><img width="600" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z209 ... 6.jpg"></a>

And here is a shot of the actual plug I removed. Four layers (from top to bottom) gel coat/top layer of glass, balsa (1/2"), bottom layer of glass coach top, & the cabin liner. About 1" over all maybe a bit more. I didn't measure.

Can you tell me where on the deck you are installing the unit? I am in the process of installing a Nicro Fico unit where the old dorade box was, which is just forward of the mast step.
Thanks

Directly in front of the mast. While it would fit on the coach top, when you looked below, it wouldn't fit.
