Waited two months, called and ended up talking to the owner for almost an hour about the problems with bronze from China. Seems like a nice enough guy but I never got the parts. Fortunately I never was billed either so I just emailed and cancelled the order.
I also had problems with Bristol Bronze. Ordered a stamped name/number plate for our CD22. When it came the number was stamped all cockeyed. We returned it to him to redo. He swore it was never received the first time I was able to talk to him and would never return our calls after that.

Ureeka!!! After a six months wait my oval cowel vents arrived yesterday and the quality is superb. We can drop the scam threat but I would certainly maintain a yellow flag if ordering again from Blue Water Hdwe. Scott just doesn't get it when it comes to customer service. If he were only up front with his customers from the beginning...
Other good news, Spring is rapidly approaching us here in the NE and that means warmer weather and that means SPLASH.

I read your comment about spring approaching with a twisted grin on my face. As I look out my window everything in my view is buried under over 2 feet of snow, and we still have 10 more hours, minimum, of snow coming. Our view of the Chesapeake Bay is obliterated by white, and Rocky Point Road is nowhere to be seen, neither are snow plows, including ours, which is also buried.

good news

Post by StevenP »

I'm happy to hear that. My seat of the pants told me Scott was a good guy and would come through.

It's unfortunate to have to go through all that though. If he's really that backed up he should just tell us.

To be honest, I'd still rather deal with Scott than Marine Depot because the MH/BWH catalog works better for me. He seemed very knowledgeable about the product.

Let's hope he can get some help with the customer service and ordering and get back up to speed.

:-)

Bob M-J:

That is good news.

I checked the Bluewater Hardware website again today. They still say they are exhibiting at Strictly Sail Miami next week. However, they are NOT listed as an exhibitor on the Strictly Sail website. This may be a typo. However, on the Bluewater Hardware website they have the venue incorrectly listed as Miami Marina Bayside. This is the OLD venue. The new venue for Strictly Sail is at the Marriott Sea Isle Marina and Yacht Center (a few blocks north from the old venue).

If anyone wants me to check out Bluewater Hardware at Strictly Sail (or any other exhibitor for that matter) I am happy to do so. Just let me know.
Fair winds,

Robert

I'm looking forward to a report on anything related to our little yachts that seems new or innovative (or a less expensive) alternative. Have fun.

Bob I'm just getting back to this thread and am glad to hear that you got your cowl vents - a great relief I can imagine! I'm still waiting (into the 8th month now) for my portlights and hatches, and have been unable to raise Scott by phone for about a month and a half now. I hope that my saga will turn out as well as yours, but I'm losing my confidence, no question. I've just today gotten a person who speaks the language to give Man Ship a call and see what they can tell me - we'll see what comes of that.

Regards,

Chris

No sign of the vent yet. Order was placed in October so I can't lay claim to the longest delivery as I am only coming up on 5 months. Scott has been relatively decent about responding to my inquires, but in general has not met any of the revised dates he has propsosed.

Scott has now returned my deposit, saying that he won't be able to get the windows as promised. This obviously isn't what I'd hoped for, but at least I'm only out the time I waited, not the money I'd paid. I believe he's doing better with some other product lines, and he tells me that he's moving from CA to somewhere on the east coast to reduce his overhead. I wish him luck - and anyone who is still waiting also, of course.

Cheers,

Chris
