Nowhere in my area, the lower Chesapeak Bay, can I find plastic 6 gal. tanks to fit in the engine well. My old ones are shot and the only option here is to buy steel ones at 80.00 bucks a pop. Yiks! I checked with my engine repair guys and their OMC catalogue doesn't list the old shape that fits. Help please.

Re: where to find plastic gas tanks for CD25
i had a similar problem on my cd 26. i wound up searching high and low for plain old 5 gal plastic gas cans that fit then drilling and installing pickup tubes to fit. had to bend a old wrench to tighten the nut inside. bedded pipe in 5200 and no leaks.carolyn rhoads wrote: Nowhere in my area, the lower Chesapeak Bay, can I find plastic 6 gal. tanks to fit in the engine well. metal tanks
Go with the metal tank. I have had some bad experiences with plastic tanks leaking due to expansion. It seems some fittings such as caps etc just dont seal well on plastic tanks. $80 is better than coming down to the boat and finding a gas film on the whole marina(or inside your boat).

I recently bought a new OMC outboard and the 6 gallon tank that came with it is a perfect fit.
