ST. John River
Just spent a week on a friend's power boat on the St John River in Florida, The river where boats seem to go to die, the only boat I saw sailing was a Cape Dory 25. All the rest were motoring.

I hope you're wrong!
I'm moving aboard a Cape Dory in the St. John's river in the next few months, so I hope you're wrong about boats going there to die!
Re: ST. John River
You are very wrong about the St Johns River!!! While you may see very few boats sailing during your brief visit, the river is awesomely HUGE and you can never see all of the "sailing area" with being in a plane. I'd also suggest you make your next visit during the annual Mug Race, that's from Palatka to the Rudder Club near Orange Park, a 30+ nm race.Leonard Lookner wrote:Just spent a week on a friend's power boat on the St John River in Florida, The river where boats seem to go to die, the only boat I saw sailing was a Cape Dory 25. There are also many, many places with LOTS and LOTS of boats, but rarely do you see many sailing - it has nothing to do with the St Johns River!

PS: I spent the first 30+ years of life in Jacksonville and sailed my first 2 Cape Dorys there as well...
