I have a 1977 Cape Dory 25'and this year the depth sounder fails to operate. The original sounder is a Corinthian, Model S-200D, Mark ll. My question...Is there a replacement depth sounder for the 25 Cape Dory that doesn't require patching and redrilling new holes in the hull or bulkhead. . . The transducer requires a 2 1/16" dia. hole and instrument requires 4 1/8" dia. hole in the bulkhead. . . Many Thanks

I replaced the depth meter with a Standard Horizon model a couple of years ago. It fits in the original 4" hole, so that's not a problem. The transducers now are just a little bigger, and there was a recent thread about enlarging the hole. But... when I replaced my meter, I found that the old transducer worked just fine. Try it with a new meter... it might work.

Re: digital depth sounder
Have the same unit on my 1984 CD27. Experienced a transducer failure and obtained an identical replacement a few years back (1994) from DataMarine, which made replacement of the old unit quick and easy. It's worked great since.
