All MYSTIC, CT SAILORS!

Post by abreece »

Hello all!

The "Cape Dory Kid" is growing up - he graduated from college and just got his first "real" job at Mystic Seaport! I'm planning on bringing my Cape Dory 27 with me to CT, and was wondering if someone/anyone/everyone could suggest a nice "do it yourself" boatyard in the area. I was also wondering where a nice (cheap) place to moor the boat for the summer might be. I'm completely new to this area, so any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

All the best, Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Andrew,

You have to be kidding us. You have a paying job at Mystic??? That sounds fabulous. What will you be doing?

I'd be lobbying for a mooring or dock space near the museum, but you have probably already started investigating those possibilities.

Keep on sailing,

Ken

What a phenomenal place to work. I spent a semester many years ago while in college working in the Small Boat Shop. Wonderful people and an amazing experience.

They used to have a public pier just up from the Morgan and cruisers would come in looking for crews to go off and sail the world. People would just pack up and leave with them for unknown ports. Always seemed like a great idea while in college! Glad I never did, but I was tempted!

Enjoy your experience there --
