Lightning strikes

Regarding lightning strikes: Is there any benefit to attaching battery cables to rigging or mast and throwing other end in water?

Fortunately, the mast height on the Typhoon is shorter than most other boats - therefore if you anchor or moor closer to a boat with a taller mast, you should be relatively safe from lightning - I think.....

Thanks John, that is one cool article on Lightening....very En-Lightening. It's a great read. If I ever knew what caused the sound of Thunder, it was overwritten on my hard drive long ago, for that alone it was worth the read.
