When using deck fills for water take your time, reduce flow to about 1/2 which will let air escape the tanks freely........make sure the vents are clear.
Adding a little bleach is a good idea. A boiler brush of the right diameter, (available at most hardware stores) will scour the inside of your of the fill hose .
