I own a 1973 CD25 and it has six ports. They don't open though. Does anyone know where I can get replacements that open?

Skip,
I think the CD-25 always had six ports. 1979 CD-25 was the first to have six bronze ports that open, as oposed to the six plastic that don't. My 78 is one of the last with six fixed plastic ones, one long and two short on each side. The CD-25D always had six bronze that open, as did the 27. The earliest 28s had fixed plastic too.
Jon
Take a look at my 78 CD-25:

You may whant to do a search of old messages on this subject. There has been a lot of traffic on the issue in the past. I have converted my '75 CD25 to bronze opening ports and am happy with the results

How?

Jim,
I tried the search feature on this site and came up empty. How did you put opening bronze ports on your CD-25? I don't like my plastic ones at all.

Hi Jon
I purchased my new portlites from New Found Metals. When I bought mine NFM did not have exact replacement sizes. I glassed in the cabin side solid, faired it, then recut the new size openings. We spend a lot of time on the boat so the air below is much appreciated. Also when I removed the old windows, I found that the "purchase" between the window frame and the hull was much less than desirable.
I learned a lot in the process, so if you ever decide to make the change, let me know. Somebody once said that you should "build your second boat first". I agree!

Try searching using keywords like "opening ports" , "portlites" etc. There has been a fair amount of trafic on this subject over the last couple of years.
