I picked-up a CD25 this week that needs a new tiller. Wondering if anyone has the dimentions or would be willing to trace theirs and ship the drawing to me as a pattern. Several years ago Glen Snader made me one for my first boat but I haven't seen him on this board in a long time.
Another option would be for me to trace one here in Maine that hasn't been shrink-wrapped for the winter yet.

Many years ago I replaced a CD25 tiller with an "off-the-shelf" tiller from Defender. It did require some trimming and routing to fit, but the final product was great. I don't remember exactly which one I bought. Just check the curves, length and butt measurements for the closest (but slightly larger) fit and adjust it when you get it.

Based on my old tiller, my measurements were Style E, a length of 38", a curve height of 2.5 inches, and a height and width of 1.25 inches square. The nice lady at H&L told me it would have to be a 'custom' tiller. I cringed, as I expected the price to ballon, but it turned out to be what I thought was very reasonable. The 'custom' part meant they didn't have one in stock and would have to make it.
You have the opportunity to lengthen or shorten the tiller if you want - the 38" is actually about 1 1/2 inches longer than 'stock' because I single hand a lot, and wanted a little more length for when I am sitting just behind the cabin.
If you call H&L they will fax you a 'catalogue' that explains how to order a tiller from them.

The tillers from Defender are made by H&L... you can also get them custom made by H&L through Defender...

Thanks for the information, but since I have all winter to get this boat ready and enjoy woodworking, I'd like to laminate-up my own.
In addition, I also need to purchase the tiller strap and cap assembly from Spartan Marine. It comes in 4 sizes ranging from 3/4" to 1 1/4". Anyone know which one is intended for the CD25?

The rudder shaft on my '76 is 3/4", just measured it.
