Joe,
Glad it's a sensor issue. If in the future, you suspect internal scaling or marine growth (which does happen with alarming regularity), or continue to have additional overheating issues, perhaps this link might prove helpful. Feel free to ad any comments as it is an ever-evolving engine overheating tip sheet.

Alarm
Joe: I had a very similar problem on my 25D. It would drive me crazy when the alarm would come on intermittently and not shut off. I eventually found some corroded connections on the main wiring harness near the engine and also tracked down a faulty main ground wire from the batteries. After fixing these problems this last season has been without any buzzer problems.

Me Too
Joe,
Being away for a while, I did not see your post in time to make a prompt reply. But in case it is helpful to someone else, let me say that I had the same on-and-off symptoms you describe for about three weeks. Just as I was about to phone my (expensive) mechanic, the engine temp. light begain staying on constantly--came on instantly at start-up and then never flickered until the engine was turned off. That was a decisive clue that the temp. sensor had gone bad. Those little units are not infallible.

At least it's good that they "usually" sound off when they fail... far better than the alternative!Bob Owens wrote:Those little units are not infallible.
