i survived another eventful trip back from bermuda, leaving 4/1 and arriving at chesapeake light 7 days and 3 hours later. it only took another 8 1/2 hours to make the remaining 16 miles to the nearest harbor due to a small weather disturbance ( an ass-whuppin' cold front with 35 knots, gusting to 55, and ice cold rain...oh, of course it was night) it will be at least a few days before i am inclined to venture forth again. oh yeah, the boat did better than her crew, only damage was a small tear in one of the weathercloths. she thinks triple reef main and storm jib is her new outfit as it is what she wore most of the week. thats fun sailing to her.
read all about it in the CDSOA newsletter, coming soon to newstands near you.

weather picking skill
i carefully review the pilot charts, then figure they do not apply to me and i will have better luck. why do we keep going cruising? as larry pardey says, "short memories".Dana wrote: Welcome back to Tidewater John.....How do you luck out with such weather??? Dana
