Hello Cathy and Bruce:
Bruce's photo of the Statute of Liberty is beautiful and poignant. It reminds me of a very special fax I once received. I had it framed.
Shortly after 11 September 2001 a friend faxed me a picture of the Statute of Liberty. The inscription below simply read:
"The most dangerous place in the world is between a mother and her children".
That phrase has always stayed with me. It is as true today as it has always been. It reminds me of what so many in this country have fought for over the years.
I know posts are supposed to be solely about CDs, sailboats, etc. So, in keeping with the spirit (if not the letter ) of the rules, I own a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender (S/V Tadpole, Hull No. 1400). This weekend I am going to be looking at a 1982 Cape Dory 25D. Everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed.

RE: The Statue
Hi SeaHunt,
Bruce snapped that photo this past July 3rd. It was the day before they re-opened the statue itself to visitors. [Since Sept. 11th, you could only go in the museum beneath the statue and "look up her skirt" through a glass barrier.] On July 4th visitors could go all the way to the crown. Though you can't tell from that photo, through binoculars you could see there was quite a crowd at the statue that day. I'd hate to have been in line on the 4th!

Although the scenery here is not as spectacular as up north, we do enjoy our boats.

Swimming
Zeida, you'll notice that I haven't posted any pictures of us swimming in the Pacific Northwest. There are definitely some advantages to Florida! We probably also get a lot more use of our wool hats, long underwear and fleece than you do.

Oh how did the summer go so fast. While listening to the NW rain fall on the roof as we commence with our long dreary winter, I dream of those days. Fortunately we have pictures to remind us they will come again. Here is our CD 330 Sweet Chance still in early morning slumber anchored in Manzanita Bay on Bainbridge Island with her Fuji 40 sailing companion Amazing Grace.
