CDSOA 13th Annual Meeting - Havre de Grace MD

Post by barfwinkle »

Good Morning to all from a VERY Soggy Oklahoma

Well I have good news and (hehe) MORE good news. As most CDSOA Members know, yesterday was the deadline for registration for the 13th Annual Meeting and I am happy to report that thus far we have about 25 boats registered with 40+ attendees, with more registrations in the mail.

Over the past few days I have received numerous phone calls and emails asking if Captain/Crews could still register and I am happy to report that "YES YOU CAN"! I have spoke with both the Lantern Queen Riverboat and MacGregor's Restaurant, and both vendors feel comfortable with their ability to handle a larger than planned turnout.

So the MORE Good News is IF you are still interested in attending the CDSOA 13th Annual Meeting, PLEASE get your registration forms and payments in the mail ASAP. <a href="http://www.capedory.org/fleetevents/200 ... u]CLICK HERE</a> for the Announcement and Registration form.

PLEASE NOTE ANY REGISTRATION FORMS RECEIVED AFTER OCTOBER 26, 2009 WILL BE RETURNED. WE HAVE A DEADLINE TO THE VENDORS OF OCTOBER 28, 2009!

Come on out folks, listen to Captain/Circumnavigator Fred Bickum (S/V FeNix), and meet and greet old and new friends in Havre de Grace.

I look forward to seeing you in Old Town HdG!

Hi Gang,

A bunch of us will be staying at the Days Inn Aberdeen, 410-272-8500.

Our room was $58.49 per night plus tax (check-in Nov. 6, check-out Nov. 8, 1 King bed, non-smoking, AARP). If you're not eligible for the senior discount, their best online rate was $64.99 per night plus tax. If you book now, it's $55.24 (don't know how long that will last). They also said that they still have 25 rooms with 2 double beds non-smoking available, and 2 rooms with 1 king bed non-smoking. Didn't ask about rooms where they allow smoking. (The above info was in effect when we booked our room on Sept. 1st. Don't know the rates as of today.)

Okay folks here is a Challenge

Post by barfwinkle »

I will personally pay the 60th registrant's $80 registration fee. One fee only (I am but a sailor of humble means). I'll use the USPS date and time stamp to verify who that might be (as best I can! Sorry folks you'll just have to have a bit of trust here). Should there be a tie, we'll drop them in a hat and have a drawing to see who the lucky winner might be.

What say ye? So please get those registrations forms in the mail, and remember that October 26th deadline!!!!!!

Fair winds and I hope to see ya in HdG :D

If you've not visited the Chesapeake Bay area, this is a great opportunity to take a little vacation time and see a part of the country that you've not visited. If you have, then you already know what a great sailing area this is. And you'll meet other CDSOA members, put faces with the folks that you may have only conversed with via the message board, make new friends, and see old pals.

Things to do...

Post by Cathy Monaghan »

While in Havre de Grace, if you have time, there is much to see and do. There are several museums, including the Concord Point Light & Keeper's House located at the foot of Lafayette Street. Concord Point is the oldest continuously operated lighthouse in the state of Maryland. You'll also find the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum at 215 Giles Street; the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum at 100 Lafayette Street; the Skipjack Martha Lewis at 121 N. Union Avenue; and the Steppingstone Farm Museum at 461 Quaker Bottom Road. CLICK HERE for a "walking map" of Havre de Grace. Take a stroll along the Promenade -- the boardwalk along the Susquehanna. There are parks, art galleries and lots of shops. And of course there's boating, fishing and golf!

Been out of Town But

I opened 5 new envelopes with NINE new registrations this very P.M.

Thank you Croes, Scott, Kuhar, Carroll, and Humenicks. We are zooming in on that magic number of 60. Sure hate to have to shell out an additional $80, but a deal is a deal (see above).

Yawl Come. Hope to see you in Havre de Grace.

Unfortunately the Lantern Queen is full to capacity and as I stated earlier, registration is now CLOSED!

We have an interesting line up and I truly look forward to seeing the Cape Dory Family in assemblage.

Travel safely and I'll see yas next weekend. Argh Maties!

Is there a schedule available?

Post by Bill Cochrane »

Is there a schedule posted anywhere? In particular, what time and where do activities begin on Saturday?

Questions for Bill (aka barfwinkle) and Leo....

Post by Cathy Monaghan »

Bill & Leo,

Besides the above posting by Bill Cochrane, I've received a couple inquiries asking the same question.

I posted Leo's tentative itinerary in the following message thread in September:

2009 Annual Mtg. in Havre de Grace, MD.... - Cathy Monaghan

But we really need a current one. Also, since folks will be spread out rather than everyone staying at the same hotel, we need to know where everybody should meet up with each other on Friday - and when. I was also asked about the "dress code" for the dinner on the Lantern Queen.

Thanks,
Cathy
