Installation of Mast Plate

Post by keith kelley »

I just took down the mast and started to think about removing the tabernacle so I could install the mast plate. When I looked in the inspection port under the mast, I didn't see the nuts that I expected - just what looks like a fiberglass bar that supports the mast with the mast light wires going through it....not nuts to loosen to remove the tabernacle. Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Thanks.

Keith,

I will be doing the same job in a couple of weeks. Others on this board have advised me that the bolts holding the mast step in place go into threaded holes in a steel plate embedded in the laminate.

That is correct, plus some unknown adhesive you cannot get at (most likly 5200 or similar.) Have "Anti-Bond" in hand but haven't found a way to get at the bonding agent.
