LOL - Thank you! I had a GREAT crew...My husband, Seth, just started sailing last season and has really taken to it! (Thankfully!)
AND, we had Kyle Erlandsen as our tactician...A veteran racer and previous owner of our TYS. Together we make up a pretty competitive crew!

Just keep the boat moving forward and in the correct direction.
That was the most important part.

We had a few minutes of ebb tide to help us get away, then we fought the flooding tide by ducking into the islands by Boston Light. We struggled to get around the rocks with big boats taking what little wind we were getting. We parked in the troughs and got pushed farther and farther to leeward, still making 1.7 kts, yikes.

Sure was nice to have the breeze fill in like it did, as well as ride the flooding tide back in. Now if I could only call a layline we could have avoided about 6 tacks.

Great concentration and attention to details kept the Surfside moving along. No luffing, no pinching, no overtrimming, well, that is what we tried to avoid.
Oh and a nice clean bottom helps too.
