Did you notice all the pictures he took of our bow? Next year, remember to lock the prop so he can get some shots of our transom.Dick Barthel wrote:John and his crew sailed a great race from start to finish.

Re: Congrats to Surfside and Tantalus
We missed you and missed having four 28s at the start line together. Second year in a row that Friday weather didn't cooperate.Angela and Tom wrote:Wind and seas kept the Duxbury fleet in the harbor on Friday.
As you know, there was no float in. Would have been a bumpy night at Peddocks.

Re: Great Race
You didn't mention that the "each took a different final tack" caused us to cross within feet of each other just before the finish. How did my bow look bearing down on your cockpit?jbenagh wrote:We each took a different final tack about 15 minutes before the finish and crossed the line within a boat length ...

Missed shot
We were trying to avoid something in the water at one point- thought it was a piece of wood bobbing up and down! Up close = A sunfish! And not the boat type! A real sunfish...Right next to the boat as I kept it on our port side. We were all in awe and missed the shot with the camera. Anyone else see it?
Wild.

Sunfish?
Meghan,
At one point Joe Montana said he saw something large in the water. He thought it was a seal, or a small whale or something.
It was gone when we looked. Perhaps it was a sunfish.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day and a beautiful race.
John,
Thanks for those beautiful pictures!

There were several reports yesterday of a whale in the North Channel.

And, congrats on your great race!

Sailing involves the courage to cherish adventure and the wisdom to fear danger. Knowing where one ends, and the other begins, makes all the difference.

Neil Gordon wrote:Final results for yesterday's regatta:
11 boats raced in our class; 39 started in the overall non-spin fleet; 3 didn’t start (weather on Friday was hard on the out of town boats).
CD28 LIQUIDITY finished 8th in fleet, and 30th overall.
I will take all the blame for our disappointing finish - it was my job to lock the prop and I forgot!
It was a beautiful day with some really great sailing especially on the last leg. John and his crew sailed a great race from start to finish. It was a good thing we had binocs!

Great photos John....
Hey, look at that a message board "flub". Hmmm, I wonder what caused that. Anyway, John, those photos are great!

Congratulations to the Cape Dory skippers and their crews.
You had a beautiful day for a race.
Sorry Nonsly couldn't make it. We really did give it the old college try on Friday, but the conditions were pretty atrocious. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative next year.

Second year in a row that weather the day before kept the out of town boats away. We really did miss you.Stan W. wrote:You had a beautiful day for a race.

I'm really looking forward to meeting the skipper who _smoked_ us! Specifically, you
I'll be there with my crew and family -- we will keep an eye out for you. If looking for us, look for two blond children (girl 7 & boy 9) and three older folks.
Jeff
PS congratulations and good job! We couldn't believe how much you gained on us.
