CD22 sell or trade for Typhoon

Post by Ron Brassord »

A change in sailing plans has decided us to part with our CD 22 and maybe go back to our earlier favorite Ty. No other trades considered please.
Our CD22 got a complete rehab starting about three years ago. A partial list is---
New Mack main an 135 Genoa [working jib and good spinnaker ]
New upper an lower shroufs by Nance Underwood
New sail covers
New Harken roller furler
New running riggging
New Garhauer blocks an travelors
New Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke electric
New recent bottom paint
And more small stuff.
The boat has been painted above the rail and looks good. The hull is opriginal, no dings. All the wood is good with a Cetol finish. The interior is original and quite serviceable.
The boat is in regular frequent service, and ready to go. A Ty on a trailer would be very appealing to our futur plans.
Our asking price is $8500, much less than invested, and open to discussion.

Hello Ron:

As you may know from my posts I remain very interested in purchasing a CD 25D. If I find one, I will probably seriously consider selling my CD Typhoon Weekender (S/V Tadpole). However, she does NOT have a trailer.

I have considered buying a trailer and "storing" S/V Tadpole at my house for a few years but this is probably not fair to her.

If you would like to get out sailing on S/V Tadpole please let me know. She is moored at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club - a reasonably short distance from Lighthouse Point. I am available most any day.

When you sell your CD 22, perhaps you will be able to take care of S/V Tadpole. It would make me more comfortable knowing she was going to be cared for by someone who truly loves Cape Dory sailboats.
Fair winds,

Robert

Why exchange a CD22 for a Typhoon? I can't imagine costs are that much higher on the 22. especialy if you have a trailer and can store it yourself. Just curious? i was actually thinking of buying a 22 instead of buying a Typhoon.
Thanks!

The CD22 is still for sale. I can send pictures to an email address, but have trouble with private messages. The boat is on a dock behind my home and ready to sail away. Sorry if I have missed any private messages. Ron Brassord
