Its funny when I was taking breaks I would walk around the yard and I found a 74 CD25 that was in storage inside (been there for years) , someone just purchased it and it is now outside I am not sure where it is going but it is on a trailer I am assuming waiting for transport, it needs a lot of work but looked to be in really good condition under all of the dirt and raccoon feces...at some point another transformation will be underway!

My "gotta-ask" question is: What finish did you use on the wood? And just curious why you chose it?

I ask this because I just finished doing all of my external woodwork with Teak Guard, and I'm already suspecting it's not the best choice.

The boat used to have functioning instruments judging by the looks probably 20 years ago but all are non functional I hope to put something in those covered holes but my kitchen renovation is the next priority...as far as the finish is concerned, my first boat was a 69 Rhodes 19 an abandoned boat that has mahogany deck and trim boards, of course they were exposed to the weather and needed plaining and sanding to get to wood to finish, I researched and like what I read about Cetol Marine so I tried it multiple coats with steel wool between and I was very happy with the finished product, it held up great. So when I got this boat with the teak in rough shape I sanded and used Cetol again it looks a little more yellow than the picture shows, I used natural teak color, I like the not so glossy look which many people on this forum don't care for, so we will see how it holds up on the teak. I like the Cetol product.

Teak looks real nice. I think I'll use the natural teak color when I have to refinish my teak again. It was not available when I did my teak the first time. I use the Cetol High Gloss over the Cetol Marine.

You mention that you had used steel wool between coats. I'm not sure if you did so on your previous boat and/or current boat. However, I would strongly advise against using steel wool any where on a boat as well as on any exterior application that is exposed to the weather. Steel wool will leave fibers in the wood and small pieces all over the decking that are very difficult to remove. The result is that unsightly rust stains will appear on the wood and decking. Instead of steel wool, it would be definitely better to use bronze wool, a nylon mesh abrasive pad or very fine sandpaper in between applications of Cetol. My preference is a nylon mesh abrasive pad (ex. green Scotchbrite pad). Hope this helps.

I used it on the previous boat when the wood was not installed, i used just a little to remove filler i got on my finished wood, from my fiberglass repair on this boat, i was a little messy, and forgot when I got back to the boat I found those nasty little rust stains because I did not wipe up when i was finished...
