Cape Dory 33 Measurments

Post by Doug Oliver »

I am trying to buy a Fairclough cover for a CD33 and I am wondering if anyone owns a CD33 sloop within 3 or 4 hours of New Haven, CT. that they would be willing to have the guys from Fairclough come measure. They say that in exchange for being able to take measurements they would have the main and genny from that boat professionally cleaned this fall.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Fairclough has CD33 info

Post by Leo MacDonald »

Hi Doug,
E.L. is in Groton, CT and available for measurements.
But I do not understand Fairclough's position. They made the cover for E.L. about 6 years ago, it fits great and they did it all from their in-house information.
Approx 3 years ago they mades repairs and also installed a zipper (port-to-stbd.) That modification makes the 'monster' a whole lot easier to get on the frame :D Recommend adding the zipper from the start.

Template for CD33

Hi Leo,

I thought it was strange that they wouldn't have the pattern for the 33. I want to be able to leave rigged so need the cut outs for mast and shrouds. They say they have a 330 pattern but it's cut for 4 shrouds each side. I assume your's is cut for being rerigged.

I have always stored my 27 inside but I am thinking that with this Fairclough cover I could stay rigged and save the cost of unstepping and stepping the mast each year. Do you think I'm crazy and should continue with inside storage?
