I believe the original mfg., Atlantic is no longer in business. I have their T6E (about 6 years old) on my CD36 and it's been leak free so far. I suspect you may be in themarket for a new heater of a different manufacturer. I am a little surprised yours is leaking, as I believe they were all SS construction, but even at that I guess it's possible.

BTW we were able to get out the old raitain in one piece !!!!!
Michael may have used Photoshop to perform some magic to make that happen! Wow that was lucky, I wonder if the 30MKII has a larger opening than the other CDs.
Actually I do think the lazerette on the MK II is larger than most. Cathy's 32 is identical I think. She also replaced with the Volvo.
We just removed the bracket holding the resevior tank and were able to squeek it out.
The new tank is a bit long, I'll have to move batteries around a bit, but I think we can do it.!!!!
Yes and just think......7.9 gals mmmmmmm it also has a temp control valve.

The outside case of the Atlantic water heater is stainless, but the important part, the interior tank, is aluminum. Electrolysis will eat through it if you don't replace the zinc on your heat exchanger regularly. Easy to overlook because it's a nasty job to get to. Without zincs they go in about 5 to 10 years before they eat through.

Well...., yes. Moving the engine in order to move the water heater would be more complicated. But in my boat at least, the passage across the "engine room" under the cockpit floor, is almost completely behind the engine, with fairly large openings to both the port sail locker and the quarter berth. For me it's an obvious path. I'm sure there are boats in which this route wouldn't work at all. But you're right; I will install my new water heater before reinstalling the rebuilt engine.
I can't even get my head in past the engine without turning it to the side. If I want to turn the other way I have to exit and reinsert my head in the other direction.
I'll bet single-handing your CD30 is easier than single-handing a CD36. That is a definite plus. I love my CD36, but I hope I don't regret the size when I start sailing her! Sure, she is "small" by some standards, but she's big to me. I'm sure I'll have help a lot of the time....
