Well I did use the Spartan Grease I had and the good news is that the sea cock works smoother and more importantly it doesn't leak.

I ( we did it)
After reading the posts and digesting them I removed the seacock plug while my high tech noodle prevented water from entering the head valve.
I lapped the plug for the third time and this time followed the factory suggestion of only using a light coat of compound . cleaned an regreased the assy.. now all I needed to was junp in the water remove the plug........na I just dislodged the plug by inserting a long screwdriver in
the valve. and reassembled it . walla (sp. ) the valve now opens and closes easily and no leaks.!!!!
