typhoon shroud attachments to deckplates

Post by Alan Strowd »

I recently replaced my shrouds and stays on my typhoon and neglected to note where the long (thru the spreaders) and short shrouds attached to the deckplate...which one is attached to the fore part and which one to the aft part of the deckplate, or does it matter? I am ready to sail again, so any advice will be great. Thanks.

The lower shroud goes aft on the chainplate. The upper shroud goes forward on the plate. The lower shroud attachment at this aft position helps prevent mast bend at its mid section in the forward direction.

Thanks Dana. The mast went up like a charm and I managed to get in a few hours of sailing.
