Just got the email from Hewitts Marina in Hingham and Pintle is in the water today! Yay!

Back in April, I was meeting with a colleague from Annapolis when he looked up and said, "Hey, I think I just saw a CD28 go by."

That was me! I'm the only CD28 at Marina Bay.

New dodger, yes, but the same sail cover. The old dodger, as you might remember, was more duct tape and string than anything else.

Raven stays in for the winter. We did a number of seal cruises and some Fishers Island exploration as day trips.

Today is final preperation at home and loading up the boat for our first overnight trip of the season. We will be at the dock in Noank tonight, then sail for Block Island in the morning with winds out of the SW at 10 to 15 predicted. Coming home Monday with 5 to 10 out of the North then shifting to the East late in the day. That just doesn't happen in the summer time.

We made our traditional end of April trip -- 3 days -- south from Juneau -- mostly motoring, but some brisk wind and sailing on the way home. Lots of snow still on the mountains, and even on north facing beaches. Several humpbacks feeding along shoreline.

Mariah went in last May 11th. Had frost that night. Lake Superior is in "Yo Yo" weather at this point.
34 degrees for a high this past Tuesday. 86 degrees on Wednesday. Back down to a reasonable 66 degrees today. The leaves are just coming out.

Renaissance is going into her 3rd season of a major
upgrade.
Every, and I mean every surface has been professionally
refinished.
Now we are trying to put the pieces together.
One major error that I made was not putting screws
and nuts & bolts into labeled baggies, so I would know
where they need to return.
Hopefully by October.

We're totally out of cycle, having just hauled Morveren to my driveway at the end of April (that was an adventure in itself!).

But we've been sailing every possible moment since July 2006, when we bought her, so now it's time for some rehab and TLC (and all those little things the surveyor mentioned, saying, "You'll want to take care of this at some point" )

Alerion was launched this morning....mast will go up tomorrow...sailing on Sunday or Monday

Launched April 15th and have had some very nice sails.

Yesterdays was a real beauty. 15-20 out of the SW.

I was cruising along at 6.5 knots when I passed by one of the local islands, I guess a gust blasted between the islands just as I was passing by. The rail was in the water already, I was wedged down in the cockpit, windward side when WHAM..... a GUST hit us.....Damn near a knockdown..... I sat there watching the water come up over the rail..... for a second I thought it was going to come into the cockpit. I had to scramble to pop the jib sheet off the winch. WHEW Surprised the hell out of me.

The rest of the sail was delightful and my heart was beating strong

The nice part about sailing early in the season on Long Island Sound, is that there are very few boats out there. Some days during the week I'm the only one out there!!!!

Not yet Next weekend if all goes well. Boat ready but needs a cleaning of the deck. Do that after the mast is in. Tried new electrionics tonight and work well . Tomorrow little stuff and some more cleaning down below.

I counted 5 CD's and one Robinhood today in a very empty mooring field.

And one of them is ours. And another one used to be ours (now Dennis and Susan Ryan's). And one is Dave and Carol Bradbury's.

And... Rich, was it Len Kovit's Robinhood?

We have a nice scrum of Cape Dorys in the Handy Boat mooring field.

I think I saw Dean this morning or could have been another CD they were messing with the head sail. I went out earlier for a sail to do some more tweaking of my new main & misc rigging tweaks but of course there was no wind.

Breezing Up a CD-36 owned by my neighbor Carol Dean is also in the water and looking good. We have three 36er's in the neighborhood, a Sabre 362, Carol's CD 36 and our CS-36..

Unfortunately, it was not me. Had to work today. I do need to mess with my headsail, though, as our Yankee is not on yet.

I need to do that, pin the turnbuckles, finish putting the battens in the main, and rig the lazy jacks.

Then we will be good to go. Hoping to get a 2-nighter in later this week, weather permitting.
