I always have difficulty getting enough tension on the luff of the genoa on my CD typhoon. No matter how much hauling I do on the jib halliard, by the time I cleat the halliard and sail for a bit, the genoa's luff is sagging. Any suggestions for rigging or technique that might solve the problem?

Although I am not a sailmakerI will offer some thoughts based upon some lengthy discussions with my local sail loft. First, how old is the sail and what weight is the cloth? If the sail is old and 'bagged' out, you will never get enough luff tension in the sail even using mechanical advantage..I have seen this demonstrated in the loft using 4:1 tackle. Second what are you using for halyard it should be a 'low stretch' material not the same cordage as you would use for sheeting. Third you might try tightening your backstay as it will tighten the forestay.
In my opinion it sounds like your sail may be up for replacement or your halyard needs replacement. Just an opinion. One suggestion is to find a sail maker to look over your sail being careful not to fall under the sales pitch. Try to find one that is not hungry to sell you a new genoa. What you need is objective advice.
