CD 25 for sale, 1975 - $4,500 in Brooklyn, NY -- NEW SAILS

Post by Queen Elvis »

Queen Elvis (1975 CD25, hull number 261) can be sailed away TODAY. She’s in the water and has been out several times already this season. She’s performing FLAWLESSLY. I am only selling her because I have just purchased a CD28 which I will be living aboard for the summer.

New sails. The main sail was brand new when I bought the boat in August of 2007. She was sailed about 20 times that season. In 2008, I only got out on her about 10 times.

The headsail was brand new last year, 2008, and was only been used about 10 times that year. I installed a brand new roller furling (by Alado) that Spring, and this unit is fabulous. With these 2 new sails, this boat really flies (for a CD25 !) and is easy to single-hand. The Alado has been great.

Bottom painted in 2007 and 2008. Was in the water for the winter of 2008/09 and so has not been painted this season. She is currently in the water (I’m sailing her every weekly), and you’re welcome to do a short-haul at your expense if want to look at the hull. You won't find any problems, I'm sure.

Mercury 6 hp 2-stroke outboard is perfect for her. Starts easily and runs reliably. The motor has enough power to push her along at 5 knots.

There is a reliable depth finder and a compass. The marine radio worked 18 months ago, but frankly, I haven’t turned it on since then. Same situation with the running lights. The battery was brand new 18 months ago and is only used for powering the depth finder.

I have no idea if the plumbing works. I have no interest in using it, and have never investigated it. There is a sink in the cabin, and a water tank under the vee berth and I have no reason to think that there’s much to be done to get that working. But I have never put water in the tank, nor tried the sink. There's no faucet, so you'll have to buy one.

If you intend to spend much time below, you'll want to replace the cushions.

There is a head, but again, I don’t know if it works. Most people replace these heads with $50 porta potties.

Queen Elvis can be sailed away, and will give years of joy. I absolutely love this boat, and will be sorry to see her go. Hey, perhaps someone will keep her a Gateway Marina in Brooklyn, and we can stay in touch. I am so confident that this boat is in great sailing condition, that I would be happy to see the new owner, and the boat, at the marina anytime.

Priced to MOVE – $4,500. This has to be the best CD25 deal around right now.

I'll post pictures early next week.

Why no interior pictures? Is it a disaster?

I've put 3 interior pictures up today.

The table is on board, but I didn't think install it and snap a photo.

If you intend to use the cabin much, you will want to change the cushions. I think they're the originals, and the port one is a disaster. I didn't get up to the vee berth yesterday to inspect (sorry - there was 10 knts from the south and I just had to go out......), but will do so in the next few days. Last time I looked closely at the cushions, they were in prety good shape.

I have never used the cabin at all except to throw my keys in the sink while sailing, to pump the bilge and to get the anchor from the vee berth once a year. So I never got around to replacing the cushions, or to put a new faucet in the sink. Your needs might be different, but if I were to keep this boat, given my day-sail usage, I probably wouldn't change a think. As the old-timers at the marina say - just go sailing!

That said, it wouldn't take very much at all to make the interior pretty lovely.

It seems that I can build computers from scratch but am not so hot at posting pictures. I don't think the interior pictures are showing up. Try clicking on the thumbnails here, and if that doesn't work, just send me a PM and I'll send some shots along.
