Hi;

Anyone have any tricks for cleaning and polishing my mast. Thinking about just using some aluminum cleaner. Any other ideas out there.

Thanks,
Stephen

stephen, when i got my cd the mast was crunged out lots of build up of grim and such. this is much easier with the mast off boat but can be done stepped.
I sprayed the household all purpose cleaner "simple green"non-toxic, up and down the mast (up on saw horses) then a light dusting of "bon-ami" cleaner. scrubed lightly with a scotch pad. it took several scrubs and rinse cycles to get all the crud but sparkled when done. the polish was one of the products from west marine sorry but have forgotten name. happy scrubbing ben simple green is a biodegradable non-toxic non corrosive cleaner. bon-ami is one of the lessor abrasive and least aggresive powders. so your hands if not wearing rubber gloves dont feel and look like they have been in acid bath.

Bronze wool works good as an abrasive pad used in conjunction with your al cleaner.Never use steel wool.
