CD19 or 22 ?

CD19 or 22 ?
For the past month or so,I have been evaluating the purchase of a CD19.But I am now questioning whether a slightly larger boat might be better- like a CD22 or the SR. But I dont see much info in this website about either one nor do I see any being advertised for sale.I am not interested in more than perhaps an ocassional overniter with most all of my sailing being daysailing.Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

Re: CD19 or 22 ?
the 22 and the sr are similar in size, rig, etc. the interior of the 22 makes an attempt at yachtie which lends itself to a crampier feeling. the interior of the sr is more open, yet simpler in amenities. you really should see both before making a decision.

Have had our Typhoon Senior since Xmas 85. Great boat. We used it before kids, now with the kids and I envision using it with my grandkids!

Hi Clem,
I have the catalogues for the boats that you are interested in. If you e-mail me an address, I'll be glad to forward you b&w copies of each for your review.
The Ty-19 is the smallest CD (save for the 10 foot dingy) made. It has similarly small interior dimensions, and is rather tight if your considering overnight trips. The CD-22 Senior has more room, with few amenities. The CD-22 and 22D (diesel auxiliary)have more teak and joinery down below, as well as a basic split galley arrangement.
The CD-22 is a masthead rig boat with a slightly smaller sail plan that the CD-Typhoon Senior. The Typhoon senior is slightly longer, and heavier, and has a fractional rig like it's 19 foot cousin, the Ty-weekender. The Senior looks more like the weekender than the CD-22. The hulls are not identical though.
The Ty-Senior has a well in the back under a hatch for the outboard motor. The Ty-19 doesn't. The Ty-19 used to have a bracket off the transom to mount an outboard, but it may be hard to find one these days with that feature still in tact. The CD-22 has a motor well same as the Typhoon Senior. The CD-22D has a small diesel auxiliary below decks.
Based on the numbers, I would say the Typhoon Senior is a better performer than the CD-22. There's a ton of Ty-19's out there, so your options are many with that boat. The Cd-22 and the Ty-Senior are fewer in numbers, and will be harder to find. The Ty-Senior is a relatively new design, and will command a higher price.
I hope this is of help to you. Please let me know if you need any more data.
Regards,
