Hello All,
Currently we are participating in the Volvo Ocean Race Game. Since this is a virtual race/game, we are sailing our Typhoon around the world.
This race/game is done in real time and real weather. It has taken about 1 week to do this current leg. We are finishing let 4 in Qingtao, China in about 2 days. We will start leg 5 in mid February. There are a total of 10 legs.
We have created a group named Team Cape Dory. If you are already playing, we invite you to join Team Cape Dory.
If you are not playing, but would like too, it's simple:
go to the web site
http://www.volvooceanracegame.org
register and design your boat
goto MY ACCOUNT
click on Groups and join Team Cape Dory
click on PLAY
instructions on boat operation and sail selection are on the site
each time someone new joins Team Cape Dory, click on that boat name and add to friends list. You will be able to see all Cape Dory's on your screen.
We have found the game so far fun, interesting, and informative.
Come on out, join the fun, and put some Cape Dory's on the water.
Nancy

Hello Nancy and John:
After following your instructions I think I may have finally joined the Volvo Ocean race website. I tried doing it several times over the past many weeks - all unsuccessful. I am a true dinosaur when it comes to computers.
Anyway, my "membership application" is pending approval from the "group leader". Let me know how many Guinness are required to be offered to the group leader to be able to join Team Cape Dory.
It's not like I do not already have enough addictions - diving, sailing, football. Now I have yet a new addiction - one that requires me to be seated at a computer. Thanks a lot Nancy and John.

Hi, John & Nancy
A number of board (and bored) folks have been virtual-sailing the Vendee Globe game for a couple months, and I know at least four who've been playing the Volvo game as well.
You might post this in the Vendee (and Volvo): January thread (we've been breaking it up by month so it wouldn't become another 'Varnish or Cetol' giant ). Looks like the Cape Dory team could boast a good-sized membership!
Cheers,
Judith
P.S. What's the name of your boat? Mine is Mame Hommedieu.

KnoTy Boy - Volvo Ocean Race Game
Hi Judith,
We just started on the Volvo this past Sunday. We actually started several hours late, and behind. We are still fairly new at this virtural sailing/racing. Seems like we still have a lot to learn about how to sail/play this game. I didn't even know there are other virtural sailing sites.
We are also sailing with The Sail Lanier Group.
I added you to my Friends List. You are welcome to join the Team Cape Dory group. I see you are just ahead of KnoTy Boy, nearing the finish line.
Good luck, see you at the start of Leg 5.
