Garmin 3206 or a Garmin 4208?

Looking at a Garmin 3206 or a 4208, any help in which to buy?

Did you compare the features of the two on Garmin's website? It looks like the biggest difference is with the display size and the capacity of waypoints and routes. The 4208 surprisingly allows only 20 routes which is too little for my preferences. I have 3006 which is pretty much identical to the 3206 other than the preloaded coastal charts which I think is a bargain for an additional $100. If it was available at the time I would have bought the 3206 rather than the 3006. The number of routes is important to me for use up on the Maine coast with infinite variations between countless islands. It may not be where you are. I'm bumping up against the 50 limit of the 3006 as it is.

Screen size is fine with the 3006/3206 as is readability in the sun (although mine is in the pilothouse. I also have a Garmin GPSmap 478 as a backup whose screen is significantly smaller but is still fine for my purposes.

Prices are a lot cheaper at internet vendors. I have bought from gpscity.com, tigergps.com and abesofmaine.com all withOUT a problem.

I'm thinking about buying another GPS.

You mention that you have bought
cheaper from some internet vendors "all with a problem".

Is that a typo? Did you mean to say "all WITHOUT a problem"?

Pretty soon the boat shows will be starting. They usually have boat show specials at a reduced price. I'll keep my eye open to see what they have to offer.
