Our 87 -15HP long shaft Johnson just barely makes the fit.
All new 6HP to 15 HP 4-stroke out boards appear to be larger and bulkier.Salespeople say "it should fit , try it " not knowing the constrictions of the OB well. Which make , model or HP WILL FIT?
thank you for any help or suggestions. AJS.Orrington ,Maine

Andy: I'm replying more because I'm (nearly) a neighbor with the same boat - 1981CD25. I don't have any great insights to share about the o.b. situation. We have a 1991 Mercury 9.9 and it barely fits into the well. I didn't realize it was so tight until I went to remove it last fall after boat was up on blocks. Might have been easier with a second person, but it did come out ok. I remember seeing a posting on this several months ago by someone who seemed to have found a good solution. You might try scrolling back as far as last fall (late).Happy cruising! Bill Mahan, Kenduskeag.Andrew J. Shyka wrote: Our 87 -15HP long shaft Johnson just barely makes the fit.

I have installed an 8hp Nissan in my CD25. It fits in very easy and I am able to turn it while backing out of slip. It is a 1997 motor. It pushes the boat at hull speed whit throttle to spare.

I installed a 1999 Nissan 9.8 on my CD25. Although I don't turn the motor as I have the remote throttle and shift, the motor fits well. All I did was move the mounting board to the forward side of the brackets as the motor has a larger aft dimension than older engines.
