Boomkicker??
Anyone out there use a Boomkicker on their boat to replace the topping lift? If so, what do you think of it, is it worth the money? Is there an advantage of the Boomkicker over a regular topping lift? Are they difficult to install or to remove when you want to remove the boom? Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

boomkicker
Peter,
I installed one on my typhoon 4 years ago and have been sailing fine ever since! Easy to install. Tap some holes in the boom and I slid an aluminum dowel piece in the mast slot below the gooseneck to attach the other end so that I didn't have to drill any holes in the mast. Getting rid of the topping lift was great but having support while sailing downwind and better sail shape is the real bonus! Measure twice ,cut once the fiberglass rods. They give you extras in case your boom is really heavy. I was able to install a 4/1 vang in between the fiberglass support rods as an extra bonus.
